""the first thing I tried to do as a user was move closer to the Fox, but I couldn't figure out how to do that because it kept showing a prompt of "left thumb stick" while I was gripping my controller. Trying to move my left thumb stick resulted in messages saying I haven't unlocked things yet, which was confusing. "
"besides making the VR version remember that I'm using Valve Index controllers... The trigger+joystick menus (which you do to track progress and such), are thwarted by the grip control for weather. I'm constantly gripping if I'm holding the controller, so I'm constantly thinking "why isn't this working?" "Oh yeah, I have to release my hand to access this menu""
Yup — all of that^. Just had my first session in the Valve Index. Tried initially moving closer to the fox and it was awkward. In a seated experience at my desk, I had to figure out just the right distance to be away from the fox in order to reach out and not punch my monitor. It took me out of the experience and felt clunky. Maybe the fox just walks to where you are initially? Also, the "left thumb stick" pop-up was very distracting. It pops up constantly during the tutorial. It was also confusing. Left thumb stick just mentions stuff about weather controls being locked, so why am I being told constantly to press the left stick. And yes, the grip was an issue as well. Holding the controls, my hand was constantly balled up and I kept having to fiddle with the hands.
